Manifesto

A manifesto is a published verbal declaration of aims, intentions, motives or views of the issuer. For our first task we looked at "First Things First manifesto" which was written 29th November 1963 and published in 1964 by Ken Garland. During this seminar, we analysed the text carefully, highlighting words that stood out to us and our interpretation behind them. A few words that stood out in this manifesto for me include: Effective, desirable, reinforces, skill, imagination, respond and interact. From the text, I believe this manifesto is an aim to encourage discussion in all areas of visual communication, it represents design's aspirations and aims of those in organisations, education, practice and outside design. This manifesto looks at the changing relationship of advertising, graphic design, commerce and culture poses.
