Interactive PDF (Portfolio Task)

Image
This session focused on basic techniques to produce an interactive portfolio, which will help to present our design work, and research and development materials, in a compact and effective manner. The session involved an overview of the key media types which can be embedded into the pdf file, considering video compression (via vimeo) and basic audio editing (Audition CC). The task was to produce an interactive  portfolio of our work, where we needed to edit our designs, animation and moving image outputs produced so far and design/author a short interactive pdf portfolio. The first part of this workshop, we looked at Audition CC, where we can edit audio, we learnt how to trim soundclips and changed the volume of the soundtrack. We then loaded up InDesign and set up an Interactive PDF document with its most useful tools. I downloaded one of my animations from Vimeo and placed it in my document. I changed a couple features of the video, such as the thumbnail f

Manchester and Whitworth Gallery

Image
On a day out, we visited Whitworth Gallery, along with Manchester Gallery. The Whitworth Art Gallery contains about 55,000 items in its collection. The museum is located in Whitworth Park south of the Oxford Road campus of the University of Manchester. Manchester Art Gallery, formerly Manchester City Art Gallery, is a publicly owned art museum on Mosley Street in Manchester city centre. I took several pictures around Manchester and a few inside the galleries too, especially of artwork that I found inspiring and beautiful. Whitworth Gallery 'Vox Uccelli' 1971- Pen and ink on paper. The drawing's narrative combines varied viewpoints and system of perspective as the interior elements converge with a wintry landscape. 'The Concrete Armada' 1978- P

Kinetic Typography

This workshop is about exploring  kinetic typography in After Effects. Speed, motion, advanced use of keyframes, and the properties in the timeline, text tools, and the specifics of use type and text on screen. We needed to create a motion piece about a typeface of our choice. We needed to prepare visuals, text, information about the font, history, style and design. Along with colours, layout, background textures and images which must be created in illustrator of photoshop at HD widescreen (1920 pixels x 1080 pixels). The text will then be reconstructed and animated in After Effects. Project References. FUTURA LE SPECIMEN ANIME from Thibault de Fournas on Vimeo . Granule Typeface Tribute from Steffen K on Vimeo .
