The Poster (Self Publishing)

Image
In this workshop, we created a simple type-based poster in which we were restricted to three typefaces. Techniques such as sketching, layout, and composition were key in this worksnhop. We needed to consider the tone of voice as well as visual impact when composing our work. We only worked with scissors, glue, cutting knives, pens, pencils, and text. References: Graphic artist, printmaker, and designer Anthony Burrill is best known for his typographic, text-based compositions. Experimental Jetset is a small, independent, Amsterdam-based graphic design studio, founded in 1997 by (and still consisting of) Marieke Stolk, Erwin Brinkers and Danny van den Dungen. Other references: We had to create as many posters as we could using materials supplied. Along with the following quotes: We’re all sensitive people. Our tools shape us. Technology is biology. Imagine you are falling. A digitised version. I made specific letters stand out by usin

Cinema 4D Lesson 2

Image
This workshop is all about surfaces, deformers, textures, and particles. It will introduce you to dynamics & particle systems purposed for randomised design. Part One- Twisted Geometry- I added a rectangle and extruded the sides out to become a cube, I then removed the caps of both ends to create a tube. Once I had this hollow tube, I added a twist effect. This is a rendered still shot of what I created so far. I replaced the rectangle with a star and this is the effect it created. Exploring Geometry (After Effects Workshop One)

Image
During the lesson, we explored geometry, form, the use of colour and space, and motion graphics production techniques. Techniques we covered include - an intro to expressions, effects, the wiggler, a keyframes overview, and a re-cap, covering aspects of After Effects used in year one. Before the lesson, we had to bring Geometry, form, shape, illustrator artwork to use in the workshops. During the workshop, we looked at a few inspirations to help up get started on the workshop. 30 motion tests in 30 seconds from Steffen K on Vimeo . After the workshop, I looked at more inspirational videos and references: Quick Shape Logo from UltraHD on Vimeo . . Motion Shapes - Minimal Logo Reveal from MotionPatriot on Vimeo . I really like these videos as the transition between each scene is beautifully done, I like the idea of using shapes to transition to the next scene. I imported my illustrator files into After effects to prepare for animation.

The Zine (Self Publishing)

Image
This session included hand-drawn lettering and image to create a zine content using the following words Minimize, Like, Share, Update, Off, Dream, Live, *Emoticon* After, we rendered each word/phrase on each of the 8 pages. Definitions of a “zine” Self-published (the publisher doesn’t answer to anyone!). Small self-distributed print run. Motivated by expressing oneself rather than making money. Outside the mainstream. Low budget. Andy Rementer — Love and Hats Pacolli — Daytime Disco Alex Lukas — RHSAL Backwards My Zine:
