The Poster (Self Publishing)

In this workshop, we created a simple type-based poster in which we were restricted to three typefaces. Techniques such as sketching, layout, and composition were key in this worksnhop. We needed to consider the tone of voice as well as visual impact when composing our work. We only worked with scissors, glue, cutting knives, pens, pencils, and text.

We had to create as many posters as we could using materials supplied. Along with the following quotes:

We’re all sensitive people.
Our tools shape us.
Technology is biology.
Imagine you are falling.

A digitised version.

I made specific letters stand out by using a different font, as well as duplicating letters on top of each other.

For this design, I made use of the negative space, by cutting out the letters again but leaving a little outline of the letter remaining. I also cut out the letters again but stuck it down the other way so that the letters are white, thus creating contrast.  For visual impact, the text gets bolder at the towards the bottom of the page.
