Physical Typography (Self Publishing)

Image
Workshop Six — Physical Typography Using bread as our given material, we needed to first explore its affordances and limitations before creating an entire alphabet. For our final output: a series of 26 photographs (one of each letter) which are then considered collectively as a short stop-frame animation. This allows us to edit another dimension of time in your animation, not only considering the framing of the letters but their movement and transition over time. After experimenting with letters from bread, we began to create the rest of the alphabet in the same style. With each letter completed, I edited each image and scaled them so that the letters are in a similar position, which then I made into a gif.

InDesign Presentation Lesson 6

This workshop is about refining a presentation document, we learned how to make a presentation look cleaner and organised. Using photoshop, we cleaned up our images by removing unwanted lines and colours left from scanning or taking photographs. Using a picture of a drawing, we used tone contrast to make the black and white stand out more. We also used levels to increase whiteness to remove any fine lines and rough drawings. As well as increasing the black levels to make the outlines darker. Exporting an image for web. After cleaning up the scans and photographs, we learned how to set up a document in InDesign, using rulers to keep our images and text tidy, as well as consistent throughout the presentation. Placing an image in the guidelines and making it fit proportionally. We also learned how to place a video file in this document, including several options which we could apply to video.

Maps, Stats, and Infographics - A live project with Heritage Quay This is a project about working with data and statistics in After Effects. The workshops will be a live project, working on one of three films in collaboration with Heritage Quay. The first film is about Heritage Quay, the second is about the Rugby League Collection, and the final is about the collection about the University. This workshop taught us ways to handle data, effects, masks, and transitions, project build and live material, in order to create a 10-second infographic animation as part of a group film. Beforehand, we had to bring in workshop ideas, and resources as well as looking at project references. Project References: Year in Sport / Strava Year in Sport / Strava from Vucko on Vimeo .
