InfoGraphics (After Effects Workshop Five)

Image
Maps, Stats, and Infographics - A live project with Heritage Quay This is a project about working with data and statistics in After Effects. The workshops will be a live project, working on one of three films in collaboration with Heritage Quay. The first film is about Heritage Quay, the second is about the Rugby League Collection, and the final is about the collection about the University. This workshop taught us ways to handle data, effects, masks, and transitions, project build and live material, in order to create a 10-second infographic animation as part of a group film. Beforehand, we had to bring in workshop ideas, and resources as well as looking at project references. Project References: Year in Sport / Strava Year in Sport / Strava from Vucko on Vimeo . Abstract Typography (Self Publishing)

Image
This workshop intends to create more familiarity in considering typefaces —what are their key features and characteristics?—generating other work from established but disrupted forms, re-organizing their lyric and nature in new compositions. Using a similar process (stencil); we had to dismantle, disconnect and disrupt three typefaces to form three new images on A2 paper. Project references Cecil Touchon is a painter, performance artist, collector, draftsman, photographer, and curator. But it is through the collage work that he has made his most lasting mark. Touchon's paintings are abstractions based upon typography. Using the techniques of collage, he reassembles portions of letter fonts from billboards and printed material into pure abstractions that transform verbal language into a form of visual architecture. I began to cut out my stencils of certain characteristics of different fonts. Using the stencil, I painted across to create a new composition. ...

Basic Video Editing - Lesson 5

Image
This workshop teaches us basic editing, using Adobe Premiere and Audition to create a showreel and editing a soundtrack to fit the flow of the reel. Importing a collection of images and organizing them on the timeline. We also added a basic transition between images. Viewing the soundwave of the soundtrack used, we were able to mark key parts of the sound, especially at peaks where there is a significant beat. Exporting the showreel and its settings. We then used animations for the next showreel, we used a basic fade in transition between videos, as well as faded out the soundtrack at the end with credits. 3D Project (After Effects Workshop Four)

Image
This After Effects workshop involved working with Z-space, cameras, and animation in 3 dimensions. With 3D tools and advanced composting, I was able to construct a 10-second 3D scene with added textures, objects, and special effects. In this workshop we looked a few references, after the workshop, I have also added a few of my own references that I found related to this workshop. Project References MGMT - All We Ever Wanted Was Everything. MGMT - All We Ever Wanted Was Everything from oneedo on Vimeo . With the use of spacing and textures, this wonderful project uses a sticker roll-up effect which is timed to the music. I really like the variety of textures which all come together really nicely as well as the camera movement which zooms out to reveal a new scene with smaller animations. The Stencil (Self Publishing)

Image
Workshop One - The Stencil Information - Inspired by the events of May 1968, student revolt that began in a suburb of Paris and was soon joined by a general strike eventually involving some 10 million workers, spurred an artistic movement, with songs, imaginative graffiti, posters, and slogans but also intense violence. Students and faculty staff took over the Ecole des Beaux Arts to establish the Atelier Populaire (the Popular Workshop). The organisation went on to produce hundreds of silkscreen posters in an unprecedented outpouring of political graphic art. In a statement, the Atelier Populaire declared the posters “weapons in the service of the struggle… an inseparable part of it. Their rightful place is in the centres of conflict, that is to say, in the streets and on the walls of the factories.” This poster titled, Return to Normal, describes the twin diseases of complacency and apathy. Since it was widely felt by striking students and workers that their paralyzing strikes ...
